SUMMARY:America250 Pie Baking Contest!
DESCRIPTION:PIE BAKING CONTEST RULES\n** All pie contestants must pre-register for the contest by June 13th.**\nOpen to amateur bakers only – no entry fee!\n\nBoth the filling and crust must be homemade (no store-bought pies allowed!)\nPies may be apple or cherry in keeping with the Revolutionary War time period. They should not require refrigeration and should not contain raw eggs.\nOne entry allowed per family.\nAll entries must be in pie tin with either foil or plastic covering.\nNo identification of the baker is allowed on the container. (Each pie will be given a number that will be placed on the bottom of the tin.\nRecipes or list of ingredients must be included to prevent any food allergy issues for the judges.\nPies must be submitted to the judging table by 1:30. Judging will take place at 2pm. Participants make pick up their pie/pie tins at the end of the contest or by 4pm.\nPrizes will be awarded for first\, second\, and third place.\nNo pies will be accepted after judging has started.\nAll pie contestants must pre-register for the contest by June 13th. SUMMARY:Celebrating America250 in Bristol!
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe Bristol community is invited to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and Bristol’s Revolutionary War–era history on Federal Hill on June 14\, from 1 to 4pm. \nThe event will feature a variety of attractions for families. \nThe Ye Olde Lebanon Towne Militia will present drill exercises\, activities for kids\, demonstrations of encampment skills\, and a volley. Learn what life was like for Revolutionary War soldiers both in battle and at camp and see samples of the items that they made along the way. \nThe first Connecticut State Troubadour Tom Callinan will perform\, including songs he has written about Bristol history. He takes the stage at the Federal Hill gazebo at 1pm and plays until 2pm. Other stage events include a staged debate between a Revolutionary War supporter and a Tory\, and Bristol’s Poet Laureate Tom Lagasse. \nA pie baking contest will be held\, judged by local restaurant owners. Prizes will be awarded for first\, second\, and third place. If you want to enter your cherry or apple pie in the contest\, the rules at contact information can be found here: Americal250 Pie Baking Contest Rules. \nLocal organizations will have tables with activities and information for kids and adults. The Bristol Parks\, Recreation\, Youth and Community Services Department will provide children’s games. The First Congregational Church and St. Joseph Catholic Church will be providing tours throughout the program. \nFood trucks will be on site\, and Bristol Brass and Wind will be holding an ice cream social event to raise funds for their organization. \nSome of the prize-winning 8th grade history projects will be on display and awards will be handed out to the winners. \nParking is available on a first come\, first serve basis at the First Congregational Church\, the St. Joseph parking lots (after the end of their 12pm service) and at the Bristol Historical Society for those able to walk up the hill. This event happens rain or shine.

SUMMARY:2026 Mum Festival Photo Contest
DESCRIPTION:5th Annual\nMum Festival Photo Contest 2026\n  \nAs part of the Mum Festival season of events\, the Bristol Historical Society is excited to host a photo contest as part of this year’s Festival. Photos will be on display for your viewing pleasure in the Marquee Tent on the festival grounds. Photos judging will be done by a jury of local professional photographers. Awards will presented Sunday at 12 noon.  \nDownload 2026 Photo Contest Entry Form (pdf)\nRules:  \n1) Entrant must have taken the photo(s)\n2) Print sizes between 4×6 and 8×10\, they must be matted but not framed.\n3) Entrant self-selects category.\n4) Only one photo per category please.\n5) Entrant must write name and contact info on back of each photo.\n6) Photos to be dropped off at the Bristol Historical Society Museum any Wednesday or Saturday between 10am and 2pm in the month September\, or by appointment( Call Steve at 860-944-6567)\n7) Photos should be picked up Sunday 9/27 between 2pm and 5pm\, or by appointment ( Call Steve at 860-944-6567)\n8) Color photos and black and white photos will be judged together.\n9) Please note; due to frequent strong winds at the festival grounds\, photos will be mounted with 2-way tape. All effort will be made to remove the photo and matte carefully so they can be reused. \nDivisions and Categories: \nThere are two divisions\, Youth (0 to 17) and Adult (18 and up). There are nine categories to chose from: \n1) Portraits (formal and informal)\n2) Architecture\, landscapes and seascapes\n3) Action (sports\, kids at play\, etc.\, anything with movement.)\n4) Plants and Agriculture\n5) Animals\n6) Photos from previous Mum Festivals\,\n7) Candid\n8) Miscellaneous\n\n9) Edited with computer software \nAwards and Prizes:\n\nIn each division\, first and second place ribbons will be awarded in each category.
