Thursday May 21st Special Presentation:

“RESTORATION OF THE RYE PLAYLAND CAROUSEL”
Presented by WRF Designs restoration heads – William Finkenstein, Gabe Finkenstein – and scenic artist Cortlandt Hull

The artistry of restoring a major iconic hand carved Charles Carmel 1915 carousel that was almost lost, due to a fire in the surrounding carousel building. This huge carousel contains over 70 very elaborate horses, and three equally detailed chariots. Plus 18, 8ft. wide “rounding board” scenic paintings, and 18 hand painted “crests”. It is a major restoration project we are doing. We will be showing visuals of the various stages of meticulous artistic work involved, as well as some actual pieces of the carousel. Rye Playland, N.Y. is also where a segment of the movie “BIG”with Tom Hanks was filmed.
