Building upon success for the Future.
The Bristol Historical Society is proud of its work to preserve the building as well as its numerous public programs and partnerships with other museums and groups in the community. Our goals are to set the preservation standard for older buildings, which are part of our historic landscape, as well as be a hub for programs of interest to those in the community.
We have invested over $1,000,000 into this building with your help. And now we ask you to commit to the next exciting phase as we look to the second floor and an elevator. The possibilities on the second floor are endless! But while we look upstairs, we also need help downstairs, in order to maintain the collection, do the research, and produce the monthly programs and exhibits that attract visitors to the building. We are also very happy to have the Bristol Sports Hall of Fame, the Memorial Military Museum, and the Witch’s Dungeon, all independent non-profits, operating out of our building as well. The more the merrier!
Thanks to a committed group of volunteers, generous donors, and a community that is interested in preserving the past, we have been very successful with the renovations. We have set the bar for restoring and preserving community assets and have produced Third Thursday programs and exhibits that help tell Bristol’s stories. But there is more to tell! We have a variety of fun and interesting volunteer jobs available for you to help us get to the next level – won’t you consider helping out with something that you would enjoy doing – planning a program? Gardening? Helping out at the tag sale, auction, or Holiday Fair? Using our library and research items to research ideas for future exhibits? Learning about our collection? Do you have a background in construction and could lend a hand to the Building and Maintenance Committee?
Please contact us, or let us know your interests when you are at a program. The building belongs to all of us and we welcome your involvement.
